I was happy enough to find a working green IBM Correcting Selectric II that was fairly easy to clean and tune-up. Now that I've discovered the colored ribbons that were available, I'm over the moon! Even though I'm crazy about old manual typewriters, especially black shiny ones with glass keys, I can't keep my hands off electric machines, especially the Smith-Corona 6-series and this beloved Selectric.

Dear Mr. Hanks,5 years ago
Ooh, nice green ribbon. I found a blue one for Selectric II, but it's so old that it's very patchy and results in awful-looking type. :P
ReplyDeleteI'll be back on TCL soonish - my sleep cycle has meandered over to the 5am-noon schedule lately and I just haven't been able to make it.
I wake up most mornings around 5am! But in summer I do tend to stay up much later.
DeleteDo you type with your Selectric II? Does Mothra use the 1 or 2 style cartridge?
What can I say
ReplyDeleteIt's always a good day
when running across a new
typecast blog entry from Mei!
As a reminder, it's the sentiment behind the poem that matters most. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it.) In all seriousness I was truly happy to find your post, especially as I had plans to join TCL this time around but was not able to do so once again. While I've yet to play around with the electrics, I haven't ruled out doing so at some point down the road.
The output from the Selectric 2 looks really good, especially in green ink (great surprise!). Obviously your IBM is enjoying all of the attention that you've been giving it. Who could blame it? Meanwhile, I am trying to make it up to my typewriters for having ignored them for most of this year thus far. I'm now rebuilding that bond one page at a time. Hope to see yourself and the others on TCL soon.
